Man, you’re always trying to show us that Israel is that innocent victim and Hamas is the only evil in the world. Now before I comment in here, I need to remind you that last time I submit an article with many points against Israel and you promised to answer but as usual from any Israeli side, you don’t keep your word and you didn’t reply. Any way, lets get back to your comment in here and I’ll be very specific with you. You said ”And yet Hamas is still firing rockets at civilian towns in Israel to provoke. Maybe you should wonder what Hamas’ intentions are when they provoke a conflict they can not win with their incessant provocation.” wow, Hamas just want to play with Israel, you always forget that Israel is an occupation force, at least in Gaza and West Bank, so why don’t you think of ending up such occupation?about the power of resistance, it is always the power of right not the power of weapon.
now lets go to your next point:

what a joke, Israel uses its weapons to kill and wound those palestinians and then gives an offer to treat them..why did Israel open fire and wound them? when someone shoot you, form sure he’s your enemy..what do you think? will we accept the treat of the enemy during war time? more over, if Israel is that kind, then why did they prevent Palestinian medical staff from reaching those injuries? and why did Israel target hospitls and medical staff(30 of them were killed)and don’t tell me it was a mistake, Israeli forces in Tal El Hawa targeted Al - Quds hospital from very close distance.
”In addition, Hamas has been hijacking part of the humanitarian convoys allowed into Gaza daily under a negotiated ”lull”, confiscating the goods for their own use”. When Hamas was elected, its leadership renounced any and all agreements signed by its predecessor, the PLO, and began openly firing missiles on Israeli civilians.
The blockade was a REACTION to Hamas actions, which included firing on personnel manning the crossings, fuel pumping stations and electricity transfer stations.
Hamas committed these acts to ”show the world” how terrible Israel’s occupation was... at a time when Israel was not physically occupying the Gaza Strip.
Hamas hasn’t gotten the message, and I doubt they ever will: stop trying to harm Israelis and no one will harm you.
Is that so terribly hard to understand?

”Man, you’re always trying to show us that Israel is that innocent victim and Hamas is the only evil in the world. Now before I comment in here, I need to remind you that last time I submit an article with many points against Israel and you promised to answer but as usual from any Israeli side, you don’t keep your word and you didn’t reply. ”

Some of us actually work for a living and don’t “live” on the Internet. Give me the name of the article and I’ll do my best to respond when I can. Evil is in the eye of the beholder, and it’s more than obvious that each of us has an opinion.

”Any way, lets get back to your comment in here and I’ll be very specific with you. You said ”And yet Hamas is still firing rockets at civilian towns in Israel to provoke. Maybe you should wonder what Hamas’ intentions are when they provoke a conflict they can not win with their incessant provocation.” wow, Hamas just want to play with Israel, you always forget that Israel is an occupation force, at least in Gaza and West Bank, so why don’t you think of ending up such occupation? about the power of resistance, it is always the power of right not the power of weapon.”

Israeli forces and settlers withdrew from Gaza in August 2005. Gaza had the chance to prove that the Palestinian intent was to build, yet did nothing but destroy. This included hothouses left intact for agricultural use by the Gazans, yet they were reduced to useless rubble. Why?

From our point of view, we “disengaged”, and all we got was a greater number of rockets than before. Is this your idea of building a country?

Hamas’ intention is quite clear, at least in words, in the Hamas Covenant. I’m surprised that you never mention this. There is no question of “right” or “wrong” in Hamas, just the concept that “Palestine must be Islamic from the river to the sea”.

Since Hamas itself declares that negotiation will not change this outlook, why should Israel even consider negotiating—especially when the Hamas idea of “negotiation” is to refuse any demands that make them responsible for their actions, while demanding that Israel comply with ALL of their demands, without exception?

Demanding “unconditional surrender” is the right of the victor when the enemy has been so totally defeated that it can not refuse. Do you really believe that short of destroying the entire region with outside nuclear “assistance”, Hamas is capable of doing that?

”so why don’t you think of ending up such occupation”

To tell you the truth, the thought has crossed my mind more than once.

It may surprise you to know that I signed one of the first petitions regarding the return of the Gaza Strip (to Egypt) and the West Bank (to Jordan) the week before the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War back in 1973. The petition appeared in Ha’Aretz Yom Kippur Eve edition of its weekly magazine on 5 October 1973.

I have seriously thought, ever since Oslo, that the Israeli government was making a grave mistake in not ratifying the unilateral Palestinian declaration of an independent Palestine (originally made by Yasser Arafat). How would the Palestinian Authority handle that– whether PLO or Hamas? Suddenly, no more excuses, no more props to lean on… the Palestinian government becoming responsible for the Palestinian economy, welfare, healthcare, education, infrastructure, transportation, housing, employment, commerce and everything else that signifies an independent state. How well would that work? Or would it work at all?

Of course, the “down side” would be that the Palestinian Authority would also be responsible for any attacks made from within its territory against its neighbors…

”now lets go to your next point:
Hamas has refused the following:
An Israeli offer to treat seriously and chronically ill Palestinian patients in Israeli hospitals.
An Israeli offer to treat Palestinian war casualties in Israeli hospitals”.

Not a joke, but a genuine offer by the Israel Medical Association, in keeping with medical ethics to treat any and all persons needing treatment without regard to their ethnic origin, religion, politics or economic ability.

It’s a well-documented fact that Israeli doctors treat the victims of suicide bombers without regard to their origins, only with regard to their injuries… and this includes a number of surviving bombers, too. Apparently, from your words, medical ethics aren’t quite so egalitarian in Gaza.

”what a joke, Israel uses its weapons to kill and wound those palestinians and then gives an offer to treat them..why did Israel open fire and wound them? when someone shoot you, form sure he’s your enemy..what do you think? will we accept the treat of the enemy during war time?”

Azzam, if I was badly wounded, I wouldn’t give a damn who treated me to save my life.

”more over, if Israel is that kind, then why did they prevent Palestinian medical staff from reaching those injuries?”

Are you sure is was Israelis who prevented then from reaching the wounded? There have been several incidents with conflicting versions, where Hamas personnel denied medical access to Palestinian wounded (according to the ICRC and Palestinian human rights organizations).

”and why did Israel target hospitls and medical staff(30 of them were killed)and don’t tell me it was a mistake, Israeli forces in Tal El Hawa targeted Al - Quds hospital from very close distance.”

Can you testify with any certainly that the claims of fire coming from near and in the hospital are false? There are already documented proofs in the hands of the UN that schools, mosques, clinics and other public buildings were used by Hamas as strong points, fire positions, weapons storage and explosive ambushes… are you sure that Hamas exempted hospitals from these uses?

”’In addition, Hamas has been hijacking part of the humanitarian convoys allowed into Gaza daily under a negotiated ”lull”, confiscating the goods for their own use’. First of all, this lull is just a silly joke. Shelling and airstrikes never stopped even during it. However, what is your indepandent source of information with regard to what you mentioned? if it is as usual Israeli army, then it is not true.”

Actually, it was an UNWRA officer who made this statement to Reuters.

”By the way, your own statistics indicate that half or more of the Palestinian casualties are Hamas fighters”. It is not mine, follow the news and you can get it. Everyday, I read your Israeli newspaper; number of fighters of Hamas is not the same in any Israeli source as well as casualties on Israeli army. And even though, you’re telling me that to kill tens or hundreds of fighters, more than 300 children and 100 women have to be killed also?

This is just simple arithmetic: if 1100 people have been killed, with 350 children and 150 women among them, then that means the remaining 600 must have been men. Past statistics have shown that 80 to 90% of male Palestinian casualties are between 16 and 45 years of age (“fighting age”). Should we to believe that the breakdown will be radically different this time? The 80-90% figure comes from UN sources, not Israeli ones. This would make it likely that over 50% of the total casualties are male “fighters”.

By the way, can you tell me how many of the women and children were being used as human shields when they were killed? How many of them were in their homes while Hamas fighters were firing from alongside, inside or from atop their houses?

It obviously makes no difference to you that during the Second Intifada, when Israeli casualties were comparably high, close to 80% of the total Israeli casualties, male and female, were non-combatants. If we project this onto your claim of Israel deliberately targeting civilians, Palestinian casualties should resemble that level—in other words, out of 1100 dead, more than 850 should be women, children and elderly men… but they are not.

I don’t expect you, or any Palestinian, to suddenly become a “fan” of Israel, but I do hope that at least some of you will open your eyes and look around you at what Hamas is doing to the Palestinian people. How can you explain (and justify) Palestinians murdering other Palestinians? How can you explain or justify the Hamas expropriation of relief goods or money intended for relief goods for the exclusive use of its own people? How can you explain or justify Hamas’ levying taxes on goods brought through the smuggling tunnels from Egypt, raising the prices of goods sky-high?

Do Ismael Haniyeh or Mahmoud az-Zahar look hungry to you? Do any of the Hamas Parliament members look hungry? Who do you think pays the rent and expenses for Khaled Mashaal’s luxury villa in Damascus? Where do you think the designer suits worn by the Hamas Parliament come from, or the armored luxury BMW cars… and how is it that their cars seem to have no lack of fuel, either?

Wake up and smell the coffee, Azzam, Hamas has become that most criminal of all political movements—the “professional freedom fighter”… the “resistance” is no longer the means to an end, but has become the end in itself, and Hamas will fight anyone trying to take that away from them… whether they be Palestinian, Israeli or anyone else.

Perhaps you make like to read the statement of one man who till yesterday was feeling and writing just like you;but has now understood the difference between Zionists and Jewish way of thinking:

”Incognito,
It breaks my heart on not being able to explain my own thoughts to you... I cherish your opinion so much. I really do.
Nobody is more fan that the American people as I am. I lived for a year in NY and I so love the United States as a possible free society...
On saying that, I am certain that American foreign policies adopted by its government contradicts the essence of the nations fundamental laws.
I also believe in Israel... But I am not blinded by the amount of atrocities caused by it. Israel needs to b moderated and a solution found. IDF need to be placed into restrained monitoring. I am sorry my darling but it’s too much... No cause can justify the blood killing caused by Israelis in Gaza at present. Suddenly, the victim of my arguments tasted blood and enjoyed. Israel is becoming the Nazi government in ideology and forgetting principals the its own existence.
Israel was suppose to portrait and reflect the Jewish faith as the faith of Abraham and Isaac. However the Zionist movement has taken form stronger than its own essence and assumed a priority over the fact that any nation deserve its right to existence and place. Israel has conquered that. Let the Palestinians achieve the same. let the Palestinians be free to vote and free to walk... Let the Palestinians visit the Jerusalem of our ancestors and the right to sleep under the arms of the same God. They are children like us and our father is the same for all regardless of which way anyone see it.
Israelis are killing their own cousins... Killing for satisfaction... I won’t play the whole ”baby killing” as the media does but I will no longer certify that Israel is protecting itself when they are in fact occupying someone else’s country.
Without knowing, Israel has lost on last few days the right to play victim to become the villain to at least, not better than any Hamas fighter. Army Uniforms don’t give certainty of accertainty than any group of people defending their own rights as civilization... If it was the case, George Washington and his troops wouldn’t had the chance of creating the United States... that just like Israel, has moved from its own fundamental rights and birth as democratic and just nation to all...
Unlike the hundreds of Jewish settlements (for Jews Only) in Westbank, fairness and justice needs to prevail. A defensive force with good intentions would have withdrawn its troops to inside of the pre-1967 border and show to the world that Israel means peace...
I am sorry but I do believe in Justice above religion and I believe in Jews... but no longer will stand for or against Israel under this oppression of the weak. An Uzi against a rock is not my idea of defence.
